Nutty Apple Fig Salad

Yesterday, after being out in the hot sun weeding and passing by the Kadota Fig Tree, I popped a fig in my mouth.  As we were weeding out there in the heat, Sita and I were throwing out ideas with goat cheese, nuts and honey.  Then, voila, it was time for lunch break.

Use either apples or pears for this recipe.

2 apples or pears cut in chuncks, drizzled with fresh lemon or lime juice.

6 fresh figs cut in half

2 handfuls of cherry or grape tomatoes, whole or cut in half

1/2 cup chopped almonds toasted in a dry fry pan, adding a tablespoon of Tamari soy sause at the end of cooking for seasoning purposes

3 tablespoons local honey

1 stalk of chopped celery

1 handful of raisins or craisins

Be Adventurous!  Add some cucumbers, arugala or any other items you like.

Toss them together and you will be in heaven eating this delicious dish.
